How I write

A little honesty about my writing, the help I use, and why every word here is still mine.

I want to talk to you about something that has nothing to do with energy and everything to do with trust.

I found out recently that there are tools now that scan writing and try to guess whether a person or a machine wrote it. Out of curiosity, I ran one of my posted stories through it. It came back and told me my writing was fully written by AI.

I sat with that for a minute, because it stung. These are my stories. My life. The parking lot where I cried. The floor I collapsed on. The field of peonies with my sister and my daughter and my brand-new granddaughter. How could a tool look at the most personal things I have ever written and decide a machine made them.

So I want to tell you the truth about how I write, plainly, because you deserve to know exactly who you are reading.

Everything here starts with me. The stories are mine, lived, not invented. The lessons come from nearly twenty years of sitting with women, and from my own long road through burnout and back. The opinions are mine. The voice is mine. When you read something here that sounds like me, it is because it is me.

I also want to be honest about the part that surprises some people. I use help. I work with an AI writing assistant, the way I might work with a thoughtful editor. I bring the raw material, the memory, the feeling, the point I am trying to make, and it helps me organize my thoughts, shape a messy draft, and find the clearest way to say what I already mean. Then I read every line and make it mine. Nothing goes out that is not true. Nothing goes out that I would not say to your face over a cup of tea.

Here is why I am at peace telling you this. Using a tool to help me write is not the same as letting a tool decide what I think or feel. A carpenter uses a saw and the house is still hers. Writers have always used something: a good editor, a patient friend, a trusting source. This is mine. The heart, the truth, the experience, the care. Those cannot be generated by anything, because they came from a real life. My real life. The one I have been telling you about all along.
I thought about saying nothing. Plenty of people use these tools quietly and never mention it. But quiet has never been my way with you. This whole space is built on honesty and not on performing. On being the woman who tells you the truth even when it would be easier not to. It felt wrong to hide the very thing I keep asking you to practice, which is coming back to what is real.

So now you know. If you ever wondered, there is your answer. And if you never wondered, I hope this only deepens your trust rather than shaking it, because you now know I will tell you the truth even about this.

What matters to me has not changed. That you feel seen when you read these words. That something here lands in a way that helps you breathe a little easier, or recognize yourself, or feel less alone in this season of your life. That was always the whole point. A tool did not give me that intention. Many years and one very hard fall gave me that.

I am still just Ange. Writing to you from my own life, with a little help getting it onto the page, and every word chosen because it is true.

Thank you for being here, and for trusting me with your time. I do not take it lightly. I never have.
